Three Media Formats to Include on Your Funeral Home Marketing Webpages

Did you know that the majority of people are not visual/verbal learners? That means they’re less likely to internalize and remember your message when reading it. It’s one of the reasons it’s so important to include other forms of media on your funeral home marketing pages.

Understanding Learning Types
It’s believed that there are four major learning types:

  • Visual/verbal learners, who learn best by reading. That’s about 22% of males and 38% of females.
  • Visual/nonverbal learners, who learn best via images. That’s 48% of males and 38% of females.
  • Auditory learners, who learn best via hearing information. That’s 35% of males and 28% of females.
  • Tactile learners, who learn best via experience. That’s about 17% of both males and females.

Those numbers don’t add up to 100% for each gender because roughly 22% of people are balanced learners. That means they learn equally well via two or more methods.

3 Media Formats to Include in Funeral Home Marketing
If you only include text in your funeral home marketing content, you’re only speaking to about 22% of males and 38% of females in your audience. That means other people potentially aren’t engaging fully with or remembering your marketing message as well. Incorporate these media formats to reach more people:

1. Podcasts
Podcasts are a great way to reach auditory learners and expand your marketing reach. You don’t need an audio studio to record podcasts about deathcare topics; you can do so with minimal equipment investment and a smartphone. You might interview funeral directors, provide answers to common memorial questions, or walk people through preplanning preparation via audio files.

2. Videos
Videos are a great way to engage both auditory and visual/nonverbal learners. You can cover all the same topics in video, and again, you don’t need much more than a smartphone. Post short videos to Instagram stories, Facebook live, YouTube, and your own website.

3. Infographics
Infographics let you reach all visual learners because they combine text with images. Ideas for infographics can include memorial planning steps, the benefits of preplanning, or types of caskets or urns.

All of these media formats offer an additional benefit: They work on your funeral home marketing page, but you can also use them in social media posts and other channels for greater reach.
